According to programmes and notes written by the founder, the late Jack Rainbird, the choir started in 1977 as a quartet formed to sing a few carols at a Christmas concert, organised to raise funds to renovate the Old Church house in Ormskirk. From that small beginning the choir now has 36 singers.
- The choir is a registered charity and is active in supporting other charities' fund raising.
- The choir give between 8 and 12 public and private concerts every year.
- The choir repertoire is extensive, consisting of classical, spiritual, folk songs and songs from the shows.
- The choir welcomes new members.
Rehearsals are held every Monday evening at Edge Hill University from 8-0pm till 10-0pm.

The choir has sung abroad and has links with the Madrigalchor Millrath Germany.
